I have Age of Empires 1 installed and it runs fine on this Windows 10 laptop. exe file does not want to work either, no matter what I do: I tried everything as above. Tried running all the compatibility stuff - went throught the range of all the Windows versions, tried running as admin, tried resuced colour mode and resolution - sometimes it gives a message asking am I sure I want to do this, other times I get the install button and when I click it, nothing happens. I tried the setup file though, and no joy. So I downloaded the AOE 1 trial version (a zip file called MSAoE), extracted it and it all went okay up to here.
